First thing you probably notice about this picture is that I am fully clothed. No bikini pic, no midriff showing, no tight fitting tops and leggings. That’s because although these types of images that float around are idealistic (and wildly popular), it’s not realistic. Is it possible to have that body? Yes, absolutely. I had that body (maybe one day I will post a throwback pic on the blog), but for a lot of people- myself including- having that ripped body is not the goal. The goal is to be healthy, feel good about yourself and your body, and have realistic, sustainable goals for you!
I have never been extremely overweight, but like others, my weight has been a roller coaster. At one point, when I was in my triathlon days (more on that in a blog post), I was actually underweight- go figure. But since that stage ended for me and my life changed dramatically- I have been on my own journey to getting to a happy, healthy state. This doesn’t mean skinny- just healthy. A point where I FEEL good about my body and spirit.
Seems like I have tried every diet out there. The ones where you buy food, MLM diets, the fad diets, you name it I have done it. I have hired numerous personal coaches and trainers, went to various nutritionists and dietitians, and other medical professionals. Not just to determine what works and what doesn’t, but searching for the secret sauce to having a sustainable lifestyle that would get me to my goals and be forgiving if I “messed up”. And while they worked, I always got tired of it and went back to my old crappy habits. But it all wasn’t for not. I did learn quite a bit, taking nuggets from each experience to carry forward. And there is a secret! Here is the secret….you ready for it? There is no secret sauce. Mind blowing I know. And there isn’t a plan that fits all. Just like each one of us is custom built- so is your health and weight loss journey.
I found Keto 5 years ago and have been off and on it ever since. I have realized that Keto is the only lifestyle that is sustainable for me, that offers the ability to really integrate into my life and gets me the results and goals I am looking to achieve. It is also forgiving. My life is probably not unlike yours. I am a wife, mom of 4 teens/ young adults, work as full time as a healthcare executive, and travel (in normal circumstances) at least 80% for work and pleasure. I am busy and I needed something that I could rely on, not just for weight loss, but that could be a lifestyle. For me Keto is it. I decided to get Keto Coach & IF Certified to help folks like you decide if this plan is for you and help guide and support you through your journey.
Keto can be done in many ways. I created and coined the phrase Real Keto, because I have found that in order for Keto- or any type of dietary lifestyle change for weight loss or any other reason- to be effective and sustainable, it has to fit into the rigors of your daily life. But by taking the foundations and principles of Clean Keto and marrying them with some of the conveniences of Dirty Keto- I have created a way to ensure that somewhere during your journey your "diet" turns into a "lifestyle" all the while still meeting your goals.
This picture was taken on my 44th birthday. I am in love with this picture. I was not at my goal and I may not be triathlete ripped underneath that coat and dress, but when I look at it I feel good about myself, I know my spirit is well, and most of all I am happy with where I am at on my journey and in my life. This is my hope for you too.
